COLISTIGRAM

Agar with antibiotic in petri dish to inoculate directly with any type of sample

Principle:

ColistiGram Agar is derived from EMB Agar, with the following additional components:
• a compound capable of making it more selective vis-à-vis Gram + bacteria
• a concentration of Polymyxin (Colistin) allowing the detection of Gram-sensitive bacteria or resistant to this antibiotic
• an antifungal to guarantee the absence of interference from yeasts and fungi.
The other components are similar to those of EMB agar: eosin Y and methylene blue which are selective agents for Gram + bacteria and which ensure the differentiation between lactose + bacteria and lactose - bacteria.
